Interdisciplinary research Fellows

The fellows are at the core of the Marsilius Kolleg's activities. Advanced researchers from Heidelberg University and regional non-university research institutions can apply for a one-year fellowship at the Marsilius Kolleg.

A fellowship at the Marsilius Kolleg enables them to dedicate themselves to an interdisciplinary research project and to take part in the discussions at the Kolleg. With the fellowships, the Marsilius Kolleg aims to strengthen research-related networking between the academic cultures within the full university of Heidelberg and within the Rhine-Neckar research region. The university hopes that this will lead directly and indirectly to new research and transfer activities that link different academic cultures.

New Class of Fellows at Marsilius Kolleg

The start of the 2025/2026 winter semester has seen a new class of fellows take up their assignment at Heidelberg University’s Marsilius Kolleg. Until September 2026, 12 Heidelberg academics from different disciplines devote themselves to interdisciplinary research projects and participate in joint discussions at the Kolleg. During their regular work meetings, the fellows will address questions such as how humans acquire and apply knowledge – and how such processes can be modeled in AI language models. Another project focuses on interdisciplinary collaboration in researching traditional crops that could contribute to sustainable food systems.
